Over the past seventeen years, Nantucket Lighthouse School has grown tremendously, yet it has remained committed to its founding vision and ideals which include a developmentally appropriate education that captures the magic and joy of childhood while also instilling a passion for learning, a deep respect for the natural world and a sense of responsibility to all.
As we look ahead, we are guided by our mission, our students and families, and our five-year strategic plan, which outlines our goals and priorities – growth, sustainability and preservation. Coinciding with this plan’s objectives, and the original vision for our Rugged Road campus, we are excited to share that we have recently purchased the lot and cottage adjacent to our schoolhouse, located at 1A Rugged Road.
Thanks to the generosity and foresight of several discerning donors and friends of Nantucket Lighthouse School, we have purchased this property and existing cottage outright and have not incurred any debt. We are incredibly grateful to these individuals who have made this unique opportunity possible for our school.
Our Campus Development Work Group, led by Board Chair and Lighthouse parent Mark Lucas, is working diligently to propose options for future use. As more information becomes available, we look forward to sharing it with you. For now, let’s celebrate this exciting next chapter in Nantucket Lighthouse School’s history.
