With the 2016-2017 school year coming to a close, we wanted to thank you again for the impact your generosity has had on our school. By contributing to the Russell Morash Chair in Childhood Horticulture, you have provided weekly gardening classes for Lighthouse students of all ages, all school year. You have afforded us the opportunity to expand our horticulture curriculum and offer our students a better understanding of where their food comes from, how gratifying it is to grow your own food, and how to puzzle and persevere through inevitable gardening challenges, like keeping bunnies out of vegetable beds!
From building and maintaining “worm farms” to learning about composting, and from designing lunar planting guides to creating lesson books on in-depth botany studies, there were many highlights.
Watch a few of our memorable moments here. A very special thank you to our talented Director of Horticulture, Rain Harbison, to our esteemed advisor, Russ Morash, and a heart-felt thank you to donors like you who made this program possible. We are truly grateful!
